You are the best!

I wanted to share with you the card I had made my oldest for his birthday back in February. I was inspired by a card by Kimberly Crawford in the latest issue of Stamp It! Cards magazine.

The stars were cut out from designer paper from American Crafts. The blue scalloped piece is from the Bitty Dots Designer Paper pack by Papertrey Ink. I stamped out his name with the Simple Alphabet set by Papertrey Ink using Green Galore, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red inks by Stampin Up!. The happy birthday sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Basic set. The bling is from my stash.

Here is a shot of the inside:

I used the Heartfelt Basic set by Papertrey Ink using Bashful Blue ink by Stampin' Up!

I had a few request for the recipe for the Hamburger Cookies from my last post so here you go:

Keebler Grasshopper Cookies (the hamburger)
Nabisco Nilla Wafers (the buns)
Sesame seeds (for the top of the buns)
egg white (to hold the seeds on the buns)
coconut tinted green (lettuce)
red frosting in tube (ketchup)
yellow frosting in tube (mustard)

Start with a 'bun' wrong side up. Add a drop of frosting (any color) to hold your 'hamburger' in place. Place your 'hamburger' on top pressing lightly. Add a few dabs of 'mustard' and 'ketchup' and top with a bit of 'lettuce'. Press the top bun on top so that it oozes slightly. After letting it sit for a few minutes, brush a small amount of egg white on top of the bun and quickly add a few sesame seeds. As you can see in the picture, I didn't get to that part yet.

Note: in my years of making these, I've never had a problem using raw egg white but if you're worried, I suppose you could use honey in place of the egg white.

I've also served these with Shoestring Potatoes for the 'french fries' but I've had a hard time finding these lately. I wonder if they still make them?

Betty - I loved your idea of serving a 'baked potato' with it and will definitely give that one a try! Thank you for the idea! Hey, with April Fool's Day coming up - I can try it then!

Thanks friends for checking in!

Have a blessed day ♥ Thanks for visiting!

~Renée
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-42624714752061828482009-03-26T23:48:00.008-04:002009-03-27T06:50:43.328-04:00My baby turned 4Hello Friends,

Okay, my baby actually turned 4 a few weeks ago but I wanted to share with you some of his celebration with you.

Here is the birthday boy:

His birthday actually fell on a Tuesday this year and since his daddy was out of town, we just did the 'preschool celebration' and saved his party for the weekend. He didn't seem to mind too much. I think his best present was having his daddy home ;-)

For his preschool celebration, I continued the tradition of making Hamburger Cookies for his class for their treats. I've done these cute little cookies since my oldest was in first grade (he's in 11th grade now). Every year, I would ask them what they would like me to make, and they always said, "Hamburger Cookies". Since it had been awhile, I was thrilled to make them again!

Here they are! Don't they look yummy? I don't always keep track of the supplies I used when I make a card. Sometimes I can remember - other times I can't. If you really want to know a specific product I used, please ask and I will make every effort to find out for you.

For this card, I used two different kinds of scrapbook paper by SandyLion, the Boho Blossom punch by Stampin' Up for the puffs of steam, and for the inside (I know, you can barely see it) I used the train and picket fence border punch by Martha Stewart. I just cut off the "pickets" off the fence to make the track.

Well, that's all I have for today. You are not going to believe this... but I actually (finally) got a chance to, not only make a card, but I'm posting it as well! This is also my (drum roll please) very first challenge! I'm so giddy right now...

My good friend, Dawn, is hosting her first color challenge. She chose these fun colors from this picture:

Such fun colors! I swear, if I were still a teenager, my room would be in these colors! I made my card for the submission the night before last.

Yesterday I had to wait for my DD to help me get this off the camera and onto the computer. (I *really* need to learn to do this by myself and not be so scardy-fraidy.)

Anyways, I've always wanted to participate in a challenge and well, all the stars were in allignment and I was able to complete it! I'm thankful I was able to get this done in time.

So, here is my card for the challenge....

The card is pretty self-expanatory and I'll list the details below. Inside the squares, I stamped with the smaller half-daisy flower from Papertrey Ink's Floral Frenzy set. I used my Stampin' Up Irridence Ice and embossed them before attaching the butterflies. S0 sparkly....

Another good friend of mine, Jenn, sent me a card for my birthday and she made the inside nice and pretty too. It looked so nice - I really liked the look so I've started adding "finished insides" to my cards as well. Here is my inside:

Well, there you go! I gotta say, it was a lot of fun doing this challenge. I also gotta say, I now have a renewed respect for all the bloggers who keep up with their blogs. It took me almost forever posting this. Seriously, once I get used to everything - it should get easier (I hope...) :-)

Well, now I'm off to celebrate my new accomplishment..... by doing housework! My sweet hubby has been out of town for business the past ten day prior to the weekend and he leaves again tomorrow for a week. I've been just enjoying my time with him until he goes again.

I've also been getting ready for my two DS's birthdays. The oldest, Garrett, is this Wednesday and my wee-one is the following Tuesday.

I'll be back later with more to share... and yes, I *will* get those photos downloaded! I know, I'm such a procrastinator.

Have a blessed day ♥ Thanks for visiting!

ReneeUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-70801620633493686552009-02-21T09:50:00.003-05:002009-02-21T10:15:06.297-05:00Hello Friends!

It was Lauren that got me hooked on Pink Cat Studio stamps. The projects she has made - especially with the Billy and Lily stamps are just out of this world fabulous. (You have got to see her card for today with the Enchanted Lily set ;-) I only have a few of the Billy and Lily sets but it's only a matter of time before I get them all. :-) In fact, Melissa's newest set, Enchanted Lily is soon to be released and it's simply adorable! Check out the blinkie on my sidebar. Isn't it sweet?
I have a few Billy and Lily cards to share with you. I thought they were downloaded to my computer but no, they must still be on the camera. Hopefully, I can get them posted on my blog later today. I've really been having fun with these sets!

Have a blessed day ♥ Thanks for visiting!

ReneeUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-89641012634080958362009-02-19T23:38:00.005-05:002009-02-20T00:02:18.567-05:00Okay, about a month ago, my wonderful friend, Sarah, tagged me for this fun challenge. Sorry it took me so long to do this but, better late than never, right?

The rules for this challenge: Go to where you store your photos on your computer. Go to the 7th folder and pick the 7th photo. Post that photo on your blog along with a short story about it. Joey will be turning 4 in just a few weeks. This is me, of course, holding Joey while unwrapping all his gifts. My DD, Kelsey is in the picture too. It was such a fun day with the whole family celebrating with us.

I'm going to pass on the 'tagging' of 7 new people only because I am so late in doing this.

Thank you, Sarah, for tagging me. Here it is so you can enjoy it too:

39 Tips for Better Life - 2009

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
3. Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.
4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'
5. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
6. Play more games and read more books than you did in 2008.
7. Make time to practice meditation, and prayer. They provide us with daily spiritual fuel for our busy lives.
8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
11. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
13. Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, OR issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
17.. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the NEGATIVE BLUES away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about..
24. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'
26. Forgive everyone for everything.
27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
28. REMEMBER GOD heals everything.
29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
30. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will... Stay in touch.
31. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
32. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
33. The best is yet to come.
34. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
35. Do the right thing!
36. Call your family often.
37. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.
38. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
39. Enjoy the ride. Remember this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

Thanks for visiting! ♥ Have a blessed day

Hugs,

Renee
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-37864951914453902872009-02-19T23:13:00.003-05:002009-02-19T23:21:31.418-05:00Hello Everyone!

I've been homebound this past week with my wee-one who's sick again. He's had fevers for the last four days - high ones! I've taken him in, and although he has a nasty cough to go along with the fevers, the doctor says it's just viral and it just has to run it's course.

So, in between taking care of him and housework, I've been tweaking my blog. It sure is a learning experience! I have *so* much to learn!

Anyways, I'm really going to try and make a go of this and keep up with it the best I can. I probably won't post everyday at first, but I'm hoping that one day I can.

Thanks for visiting!

Have a blessed day ♥

RenéeUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-38011158990326616182008-09-25T23:50:00.001-04:002008-09-25T23:58:17.104-04:00
Wow.... Look at all the dust... and the cobwebs! It's been awhile since I last checked in, I guess. Yea, starting a blog sounded like a good idea at the time but then, well... you know how it goes.

I did want to share with you about a sweet fellow SCS'r named Cammie. You can read her blog here). She lost her grandmother last June from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She has designed a beautiful stamp set called Whimsical Autumn through Gina K Designs.

Her generous heart didn't stop there. In honor of National Alzheimer's Day, she has offered amazing Blog Candy on her blog. I would encourage you to read all about her heartfelt efforts to recognize the wonderful caretakers that care for the patients suffering this disease. You can read more about it here <----- click here.

Here is the card I made for her efforts to recognize the caretakers. She was so excited when she heard she could get one. So, it would be much appreciated if you could visit her blog at:

http://www.ferretfun101.blogspot.com

She would be so excited if anyone visited her blog. She named the URL ferret fun 101 and her heading is Tails of a Ferret Mom. So as you can see, her blog is all about ferrets seeing as she has 2 of her own. So you can visit that all you want and have a stamp happy day!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-48706811963861642262006-12-11T16:34:00.000-05:002006-12-11T16:37:50.418-05:00I know I haven't really posted anything recently but I plan on starting to try and post and blog a lot more. It is so hard to find the time to do this stuff, especially when you have a one year old messing up the house like a tornado. So, I am sorry for the long period without any posts, but I plan on writing more. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30102274.post-1150988419132852692006-06-22T10:42:00.000-04:002006-12-10T14:43:50.489-05:00There's something about the "first time" you do just about anything. There's always that fun excitement mixed with apprehensive and a touch of fear. Remember the first time you learned to drive, when you first kissed (or was kissed by) someone, your first rollercoaster ride?
This is my first blog posting. It's exciting, fun, thrilling, and at the same time, scary for me.
I was asked "why" I wanted have a blog. Unfortunately, I didn't have a answer. Perhaps, just to have a place where I can post my random thoughts and/or have a place where friends can come and get a glimpse into my daily life. I also plan on sharing with you my passion in life - rubber stamping! So, I guess, in a nut-shell - a place that's "all about me" !
Welcome to my blog - Inky Thoughts. I'm glad you're here!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3
